Richard Armitage, Luke Evans | The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Well it seems like The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which is part one of two Hobbit films, is set to premiere in Wellington, New Zealand in November of 2012 and in the US on  December 14 of the same year! That is indeed great and exciting news for all fans, who have waited for this confirmation for a long time.

Peter Jackson's latest blog video is a treat for me, since Luke Evans is featured in a more individual way, I hope we can catch a glimpse of him in his Bard costume soon.

I would like to say thank you to Mr. Jackson for taking the time to shoot these videos for our benefit, after following his journey to create these movies, I can not help but realize what a task it is to bring to life an epic film as this and The Lord of The Rings earlier.

In that light, it is even more impressive that he finds room for us fans, as I'm sure he realizes how interested we are in anything that has to do with the filming of these movies. Not many directors out there, take time to do something like this and we are truly grateful.

Adam Levine

Adam Levine is one of my other obsessions at the moment. I love his music and I love the man. He is not what I would call my type, the tatoos are a turn off for me, but in a strange way, he still manages to turn me on, with his antics. He is very blunt and I kind of like that. To set the record straight, I liked his music before I ever saw his face or knew his name. Now that I know both, I'm hooked.

His music, in my opinion, is very pleasant to listen to. Maroon 5's latest album Hands All Over is very strong, top to bottom. It's hard for me to find albums in which I enjoy all the songs or most of them. This one is one of the very few. We've been listening to it in the car for the past two or three months.

The other funny thing about Adam is that my 14 year old daughter is just as crazy about him as me. Now that, is even more rare. Usually she thinks all the actors in this blog are ugly and doesn't find any of them attractive in the least, or so she says. But Adam is different. It was so much fun to watch The Voice with her this year, we enjoyed the show and the music. It gave us an opportunity to bond over a TV program, it was great!

One thing I would ask of Adam is to cut down on the cussing, I don't know if he realizes how many young teenagers like him and his music. But that's just me, the less cussing my daughters here, the better.

Here's  a video and article I found today.

Happy Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day in the US, a holiday in which we recognize and remember our military heroes, who have fallen and given their lives to keep our freedoms at home. I grew up outside the United States, due to my father's job in the United Nations, so I think I have always appreciated my country more for that reason.

Last summer my family and I visited our nation's capital, Washington D.C., and had the privilege of attending the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery, which is a daily occurrence at the cemetery.

A soldier stands guard at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier and a simple ceremony is enacted to relieve one soldier and put another one in place for the next shift. The ceremony is completely silent and all you hear are the salutes and marching feet of the soldiers involved.

If you have he opportunity and means, you should visit Washington, it is an experience every American citizen should have in their lifetime.

Matthew Macfadyen | RIPPER STREET

Set Report: Re-Creating 1880s Costumes For 'Ripper Street'

Gaining hands-on experience with famous actors as a day-job seems like the ideal occupation for many film buffs. But when this hands-on experience involves dressing 170 extras just days before they are scheduled to shoot, and designing costumes for new characters that have been announced just two days before their fitting, at times the job can more tedious than thrilling.
Irish designer Lorna Marie Mugan has the task of dressing up to 79 cast members and over 1,000 extras on the set of BBC thriller ‘Ripper Street’, currently filming in Clancy Barracks in Dublin.

WHY THESE ACTORS?

If you're interested in knowing why I choose these particular actors to follow, here's some background information.

I have always liked period dramas, and have seen many British productions on my local PBS, so I have admired the quality of the actors and the movies/series for many years.

When I discovered Pride and Prejudice 2005 with Matthew Macfadyen, I had an epiphany of sorts. I will not say it was love at first sight with Matthew, but he certainly impressed me enough to watch the movie over and over again when they replayed it that particular weekend. He mesmerized me with his performance, I couldn't stop watching it.

Then I decided to look him up online, since I had never seen him before. I found out what his name was and then found a certain website that obsesses over him, which I joined for a period of time, but then discovered it was not my thing, mainly due to the rudeness and immaturity of its members and owners. That is all I will say about that. It was the first and last time I would join any kind of fan site.

I found Mathew extremely interesting as an actor and of course his good looks didn't hurt either. Slowly but surely, I started watching different movies of his and finding that the roles he played where very varied and opposites, from one to the next project. This I found wonderful. Nothing worse than an actor that is stereotyped and plays the same type of roles all the time, in my humble opinion.

Thanks to Matthew, I have discovered all my other favorites and will never look back. I find British actors to be an interesting kind of  'celebrity', they all seem so 'normal' and low key, at least the ones I like do. To me that is paramount, I don't care for diva type of celebrities. Modesty is a requirement in my book and I think all of the actors represented in this blog have that in common, they are very modest people.

Matthew helped me discover Luke Evans, who in my book is the most lovely man (of the famous type) I have had the pleasure to know. Such an unassuming, talented and lovely person. Luke co-stared with Matthew in The Three Musketeers and played Aramis perfectly. I think he is currently one of the industry's brightest stars and will go very far.

I have been very excited to watch Luke on the silver screen in Muskteers, Immortals (with Henry Cavill) and The Raven. I look forward to his upcoming projects, No One Lives (with Derek Magyar and Jake Austin Walker), of course The Hobbit (with Richard Armitage) and the rumored The Fast and The Furious 6 in which he will supposedly play the villain. Luke has a promising career ahead of him.

At some point I will continue to talk to you about the rest of the lovely actors featured in the blog.

For now, good night!

Luke Evans Holds His Game Opposite John Cusack’s Poe

Posted by: Claudia Sondergaard

In the film ‘The Raven’, the character of Edgar Allan Poe meets his intellectual match in the form of Detective Fields, the fictional Baltimore police detective leading the investigation into a string of bizarre crimes that appear to be linked to Poe. For that character, the filmmakers behind the newly released movie sought an actor who could match John Cusack’s manic intensity with quiet strength.

“Fields is very, very precise,” says writer Hannah Shakespeare. “He believes in logic. If he can’t explain it scientifically, it doesn’t exist. On the other hand, Poe studies human nature. He’s empathic. The way we saw it, Fields is doing the precursor of forensic science and Poe is the prototype for today’s profilers. He’s getting into the mind of his antagonist, while Fields is studying the effects.”

They cast Welsh actor Luke Evans, who recently graced the screen as two ancient Olympians, Zeus in director Tarsem Singh’s Immortals and Apollo in Clash of the Titans. “We didn’t want a father-son or a mentor relationship between them,” says producer Aaron Ryder. “Fields is probably the youngest guy in the room, but he’s the guy in charge. He needed to have the confidence to carry the weight of the investigation. It takes a strong persona. The minute we saw Luke we all felt we’d be pretty lucky to have him.”

“When Luke walks in, you say ‘here’s a movie star,’” says director James McTeigue. “He also brings a real intelligence to his character. There’s a lot going on behind the eyes. And juxtaposed against John Cusack as Poe, he is quite interesting. They’re so different looking, but also complementary in the frame.” A performer with a strong background on the British stage, Luke Evans was attracted to the volatile mix of Fields’ cool analysis and Poe’s white-hot intuition.

“These two characters have fantastic chemistry,” says Evans. “They spark off each other in a negative way and they don’t really like each other at the beginning. They don’t bond at all but they have to work together.” The first time the audience meets Fields, he is at a crime scene that seems oddly familiar. Gradually he realizes the scenario is drawn from a story written by Poe. “His mistrust and disgust for Poe’s work are apparent,” says Luke Evans.

“That makes the writer Fields’ first suspect.” But Poe’s alibi is easily proven and an uneasy alliance is born between the pair. “They’re the light and the dark of each other’s characters,” says McTeigue. “Fields is a little more patrician and uptight. He faces the horror of everyday murders in his job. Poe is only writing about that world, not having to be confronted with it. They butt heads, until they realize that they need each other. Fields can investigate in a very methodical logical fashion, but he needs Poe’s crazy creativity to jump into the mind of the killer.”

“John is just a brilliant actor,” says Luke Evans. “He really invests a huge amount of time and energy into the role. You could see he loved playing Poe. He stayed in character a lot and it’s really interesting to play off that. I never thought, ‘There’s John Cusack.’ I always thought of him as Edgar Allan Poe.”

HELLO!

Welcome to Angloeverything, my new blog about talented, lovely and very handsome British actors and also some American favorites, because I am an American, so it's only fair that I include some of them in the blog.

My love for British actors started with Matthew Macfadyen, he's the culprit. After watching him play Mr. Darcy in the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice I fell in love with him as his intensity on the screen. I started reading fan fiction and discovering that the British are blessed with enormous amounts of talented artists, not only actors of course.

Along the way, I discovered many other young and lovely actors and realized how very down to earth and 'normal' they all seem to be. I think, that, aside from the obvious good looks, is what attracted me to them. I am not into the spotlight personally and I don't appreciate diva behaviors and drama when it comes to the people I admire and follow.

Like I said, I also wanted to include some of my American favorites, because it's only fair, I like, low key actors, so there are some main street, but also some unknowns, that I believe will become very much known in the near future.

I look forward to sharing all the exciting news about my favorite actors. A warning: this is not a 'gossip' type blog, I don't talk about the actors personal lives if at all possible, unless there is a momentous event that is worth mentioning. Other than that, no sensasional type stuff, just news updates and support for them.

Have fun! And feel free to comment and leave feedback!
Cheers.
